Another weekend past and another photoshoot! This time it was Shinji's turn to be poked, prodded and pleaded with to stay still lol! Shinji is a completely different kettle of fish to Kyoko...whereas she is calm, mellow and placid...he's jumpy, nervous and a complete ninja! Luckily we've kind of started to bond and he's alot more trusting of situations now....hint the photoshoot :D. Shinji hasn't been a cracking feeder like the other three since having him, but he has maintained the same weight rather than losing so i'm putting this down to the cooling of the season which some keepers have commented on how theirs will eat less through the winter. :)
Same as before...white fleece, kitchen chair and facing the window to give as much good, natural light as possible! Unlike Kyoko's though these were taken on an iphone 5, uploaded to instagram and i used the Lo-fi filter to enhance and give a slightly increased contrast....see, you don't have to be a photoshop whiz!
And here are the results!
Sod it...i'm off!
Alas he then got bored and buggered off pretty sharpish to explore the kitchen side!
Have no fear, he was rewarded well that evening with mushed pear and apple in with his CGD and a mitt full of crickets.
I'll slowly be doing DIY shoots with all the reptiles so watch this space!
Time has come again to strip them tanks and get crack-a-lacking!
My times have slowly been improving....i'm now 30 minutes per tank! this includes checking the plants over for damage and cleaning all that glass lol!
Need to find something that will either safely remove odours from the table protector or look for a different substrate..NOT eco earth or kitchen roll though. Seems that it retains smells very well, so hot soapy water isn't cutting it :( . If i can find something that will remove the smell then i'll start having one piece in and one out washing.
Anyways! this meant it was also time for some quick snaps!! so enjoy! :D
Please remember that all my photo's are copyrighted to me and are my own property...so if you like one, and want to use for a non-commercial reason, then contact me first!! :) Would hate to have to start watermarking everything.
Who said you need to be a professional or own a DSLR when it comes to doing nice images eh?
Heres Kyoko posing and all i need to set up was..
One teapot
One cream fleece
One breakfast stool
and my phone!
Placed in a really well lit room with plenty of natural light, i draped the cloth over the stool and chucked a teapot on! These were taken with an iphone 5 but i have had equally nice results using my 2 year old phone HTC Desire HD.
I do like to clean my photo's up...because phones are just not perfect. For this i use Photoshop CS2..now free to use and download!! just check compatibility as this is one of the old photoshop programmes! I usually auto contrast if the light was still fairly poor and auto sharpen my pictures :). When you start messing with saturation, colour etc you run a very good chance of either ruining it or making it so far different that it takes away from the picture itself. Keep it subtle and slightly enhance the overall image!
I'm really pleased with these images though and Kyoko has earned her title as my little star! :D
Just got back from Kempton and i have the cresties!!! Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Unfortunately i fell in love with a Tiger female at the end of the day but couldn't get the seller to split from the male.....so i got them both lol!! Forth setup is ordered and should be here in a couple of days, along with an additional UV setup. :) Range are probably sick of me routing through the plants too!! lol
As they were already housed together, they are sharing for the next two nights and then the female shall be moved to her own setup where she will remain without worry of being pestered.
So here they are! Kaname (top left) is a yellow brindle that i had reserved as Male but now looks Female (this was great news by the way!!) from Lex and Ally at Mini Monster Reptiles....just weighed her at 11g and she is lovely!
Sousuke (top right) is a 3 year old Super Dalmatian with white portholes...very skittish and quite light for his age IMO, but stunning! Love at first sight with this guy and i was only planning on Tigers and Brindles lol! He was my most unexpected buy of the day thats for sure!
And the proven pair, Kyoko (bottom left) and Shinji (bottom right)...both look like they are yellow tigers and were my last buy of the day. Kyoko is very soft natured whereas Shinji is a daredevil...unfortunately the stress got to him and he dropped his tail :( so i'll keep an eye on him from a distance while he settles and make sure it heals cleanly.
Sorry about the picture quality but its late and these were quickly done whilst getting starting weights before housing and allowing to settle.
Massive thanks to Dan for putting up with me today while i poked and prodded! and so many friends that made the day a great all rounder!!
